Karin Jaschke
Freelance Curator
Karin Jaschke is currently working as a curator and exhibition organizer at OstLicht gallery for photography in Vienna. She has studied art pedagogy and contemporary history at the Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Vienna. She just completed her master studies at the PEI – Programa de Estudios Independientes at the MACBA in Barcelona in museology and critical theory.
After working as an art teacher in Vienna and interning at Dia Art Foundation in New York she was a curator at the Galerie im Taxispalais, exhibition space for contemporary art in Innsbruck, Austria from 2006-2009, and the deputy director of the gallery. There she organized numerous exhibitions and curated projects by artists such as Oliver Ressler and Marlene Haring; as an independent curator she worked with performance artists Maria Petschnig. Karin is writing texts on art and history for exhibition catalogues and art magazines such as springerin. Interested in the intersections of art and history, especially in women’s history, documentary and performance art, she has an interdisciplinary approach to writing and curating.
