Gathering Madrid NOV 2011

Our first meeting of Curators' Network was organized at Matadero Madrid, Hall 16 in Madrid, Spain, from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th of November 2011. 20 invited international, mostly European, curators had the opportunity to get an intimate insight view in the contemporary art scene of Madrid and Spain. We organized a portfolio review between the curators and 20 selected artists from Spain and hosted a public showroom, so that local curators and other cultural professionals could meet the artists personally. At the same time we organized public talks of the invited curators, presenting their most recent projects, and their institutions from all over Europe. Furthermore we offered a intense programme of side-activities that included talks with Lynne Cooke, chief curator at Reina Sofia Museum as well as with Ferran Barenblit and Oscar MartÃnez from CA2M Center of Contemporary Art.
The next meeting of Curators' Network takes place from 18 to 24 of June 2012 in Sibiu, Romania. Further meetings will be held in Krakow, Budapest and Vienna.
