Curtain project
by Jaime de la Jara
This project, in short, could be understood as the re-construction of a second (long) by installing a series of elements that apparently seem to be a very specific thing but not what they seem, no are there where they should be and they have no a function that normally are built. This factor is quite recurrent in my work for my interest in the fragility of reality and especially in the fragility of that "constructed reality", the art being also part of this reality. As Frank and Stella attended and made it clear in a conversation to point out that the more I saw things that apparently could see.
In my reconstruction, I have used several elements, building a personal alphabet elements of our common environment for me to have the quality to hold things and to be out of context for the construction of my speech. Thus serving to manipulate space and concept of "there" where I install my works. Always with a great interest in the theatrical, driving the strategies of the Absurd Theatre, where it introduced the limits of the rational and the irrational, producing a general history ceases to be so often show.
