Julio Adán

Julio Adán is interested in the creative processes of a work as an explanatory part of it, confusing normally defined and clearly separated concepts such as author-spectator, process-result and studio-gallery, using everyday or studio-related items that lead to new readings always linked to the traditional languages of fine art or making use of linguistic games.

One of his research lines focuses on the search for ways and possibilities of drawing. "Ecografía (no tocar, por favor)" is an interactive sound installation in which the viewer is witness to the process of creating a drawing generated by sound vibrations triggered by the viewer's own presence and picked up by various motors and sensors. Contraptions that paint with graphite powder with random results. Controlled chance also plays an important role in "Dibujo in verso 1" in which drawings are made using spinning tops as they move across a board covered with graphite powder.

Since 2009, the artist has been combining his individual activity with being a member of the nadamásmate group, along with Mayte Nogueiras.
